PAY WITH MILES U.S.

  • How Does it Work?

Pay with Miles is an exclusive benefit for Card Members who have the Gold and Platinum Delta SkyMiles or Delta Reserve Credit Card from American Express.  This benefit allows Card Members to use their miles, starting at just 5,000 miles, to discount the price of tickets.  Regardless of ticket price, a Card Member can reduce the cost of their ticket by $50 for every 5,000 miles. For example, redeeming 10,000 of your miles takes $100 off your fare, 15,000 miles takes $150 off, 20,000 miles takes $200 off, etc.

    Sample Itinerary:
A Card Member selects a round-trip flight from Atlanta, GA to Washington, D.C. for $250 total fare. He has 22,000 miles in his SkyMiles account and decides to use Pay with Miles to redeem 20,000 miles to reduce his ticket cost by $200. The remaining balance is just $50 after applying the 20,000 miles.

Q: Can I use Pay with Miles to book a ticket for someone else?
A: Yes, you may use Pay with Miles to book someone else's ticket. You can use Pay with Miles for multiple tickets—you just need to have 5,000 miles per passenger available and they must be on the same itinerary.

Q: Why am I not seeing Pay with Miles as an option when searching for my flight?
A: If you do not have the minimum 5,000 miles per passenger available in your account, you will not see Pay with Miles as an option to purchase your ticket after selecting your flights. You also must log into delta.com to see the Pay with Miles option.

Q: What is the difference between Pay with Miles and Miles + Cash option?
A: Pay with Miles is a benefit of select Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards where you can use miles to pay for all or part of the price of eligible flights. It is always available as a payment option on all Delta operated flights as long as you have 5,000 miles in your SkyMiles account. Pay with Miles always has a value of up to $50 per 5,000 miles for Card Members. Miles + Cash is a redemption option on Award Tickets offered to all SkyMiles Members where you can pay for your flight using a combination of miles and dollars.

Q: Are Pay with Miles tickets eligible for Medallion Complimentary Upgrades?
A: Yes, Medallion Complimentary Upgrades on Pay with Miles tickets are subject to availability, and are not available on all flights.  For flights departing on or after April 6, 2017, Medallion Members traveling with one companion will be eligible for Complimentary Upgrades to both First Class and Delta Comfort+® based on the status of the higher-tiered Member, as long as the companion is a General SkyMiles Member or Medallion Member traveling in the same reservation.

  • Eligibility:
Program is limited to Basic (not Additional) Gold and Platinum Delta SkyMiles and Delta Reserve Credit Card Members, as well as to Gold and Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card Members and Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card Members. New Card Members and Card Members upgrading from another Delta SkyMiles Credit Card product who have a U.S. address as the primary address in their SkyMiles account are eligible to use Pay with Miles upon receipt of their new Card. Eligible only on Delta and Delta Connection® carrier-operated and ticketed flights booked at delta.com. Not available on other codeshare flights. Redemption requirements differ based on fare. Flight will be marked as Pay with Miles eligible. Eligible on base fares equal to or greater than $50 or worth at least 5,000 miles. Base fare used to determine Pay with Miles eligibility does not include applicable taxes and fees. Total fare includes base fare and taxes and fees. Refundable fares paid for fully or partially with miles will be refunded in accordance with the terms and conditions found in the "Refunds" paragraph below. All SkyMiles mileage may be used, not just miles earned with the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express. Customers can use their Delta Reserve, Gold or Platinum SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express to pay for the portion of the ticket not covered by Pay with Miles. All SkyMiles program rules apply. To review the rules, visit delta.com/memberguide.

    Restrictions:
Available only on original tickets booked at delta.com. All flights in the itinerary must be eligible in order to use the Pay with Miles option. The amount of miles that can be used on a Pay with Miles redemption are based on the SkyMiles member's account balance. Miles redemptions must be in 5,000 mile increments, with a minimum of 5,000 miles for redemption, and the number of miles redeemed will be rounded up to the nearest 5,000 mile increment, as applicable. Five thousand miles generally provides $50 of value. However, you may receive less value per mile if the cost of a ticket you choose to cover entirely with miles is not a multiple of $50. No cash will be paid to or credited back to the Member and no miles will be credited back to the Member's SkyMiles account due to minimum mile redemption requirements and minimum mile redemption increments. Not combinable with certificates, eCredits, vouchers, or with any other discounts. Tickets purchased with full or partial Pay with Miles redemptions are not eligible for mileage upgrades, Systemwide Upgrades, Global Upgrades or Regional Upgrades.

Pay with Miles tickets are eligible for MQMs and MQSs. In addition, Pay with Miles tickets will earn mileage and MQDs for the portion of the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges remaining that is paid in currency after miles are applied to the ticket total.

Pay with Miles tickets are not eligible for Best Fare Guarantee and may not be combined with any other forms of mileage redemption, such as Award Travel tickets and upgrades.  Medallion Complimentary Upgrades on Pay with Miles tickets are subject to availability, and may not be eligible on all flights.

    Upgrades:
Medallion Complimentary Upgrades on Pay with Miles tickets are subject to availability, and may not be eligible on all flights.  For flights departing on or after April 6, 2017, Medallion Members traveling with one companion will be eligible for Complimentary Upgrades to both First Class and Delta Comfort+ based on the status of the higher-tiered Member, as long as the companion is a General SkyMiles Member, or Medallion Member traveling in the same reservation.

Change fees and other fees are not eligible to be paid with the Pay with Miles benefit.

    Refunds/Reissues:
Except for tickets refunded under Delta's Risk Free Cancellation policy, miles redeemed with Pay with Miles cannot be re-deposited in the member's SkyMiles Account — even for fully refundable fares. In the event of a ticket being reissued, any residual dollar value between the original price of the ticket purchased using full or partial Pay with Miles and the reissued ticket price, can only be returned as a nonrefundable e-credit valid for future transportation. E-credit will be valid for 1 year from original Pay with Miles ticket issue date. Residual e-credit value will follow current Delta e-Credit rules and will not be applicable on non-transportation fees. Pay with Miles unused tickets can be used as an e-Credit when it is a primary exchange document. These Pay with Miles terms and conditions will apply to any ticket purchased using an unused Pay with Miles ticket.

In the event of a refund (including fully refundable fares), only the paid portion of a refundable fare will be credited back to the credit card. The Pay with Miles portion of the fare will be returned as non-refundable credit equivalent to the dollar value of the portion of the ticket redeemed with Pay with Miles. Credit may be used to purchase future travel and these Pay with Miles terms and conditions will not apply to such tickets.

In the event of a valid ticket cancellation under Delta's Risk Free Cancellation policy, the Pay with Miles portion of the fare will be redeposited into the member's SkyMiles account and the paid portion of the fare will be credited back to the credit card.

    Miscellaneous:
Any miles you use will be automatically and permanently deducted from your SkyMiles account at the time of the redemption. Except for mileage accrual, upgrades, and form of refund for refundable fares, all other fare rules for the ticket purchased apply.
