Explore Naples & Amalfi Coast

Recognized as the most chaotic, passionate and vibrant city in Europe, Naples is a dazzling and mesmerizing feast of food, museums, art galleries and the incomparable archaeological Roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Positioned between the Sorrento peninsula and Salerno, the Amalfi Coast is a 28-mile, winding, narrow route of dramatic coastline — home to some of the most beautiful towns, stunning panoramas and breathtaking drives in the world. Its most famous towns — Sorrento, Island of Capri, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello — have captivated and inspired travelers for centuries. Artistic, appetizing and awe-inspiring, Naples and the Amalfi Coast are great bases for wandering around southern Italy.

Less than two hours from Rome is the port city of Naples. Here life is lived at full speed, with Vespas zigzagging narrow streets and mini-operettas performed on every street corner. In sharp contrast is the legendary beauty of the Amalfi Coast, which is an attraction in and of itself. The breathtaking drive from the Bay of Naples to the Gulf of Salerno is a stunning stretch of coastline. The rugged cliffs draped with lush greenery tumbles down to radiant turquoise waters, for a picture-postcard glimpse of a preserved past of traditional fishing villages and ancient ruins.

One of the most beautiful towns on the Amalfi Coast is Positano, with its popular winding roads and pastel villas perched on flower-laden cliffs. Known as the “road of a thousand bends,” you must experience the narrow, winding Amalfi Coast Drive. This spectacular cornice road is not for the faint-hearted, as every encounter with an oncoming vehicle is a thrilling adventure.

Ravello is a clifftop sanctuary with manicured gardens, palatial hotels and a vibrant cultural scene. Facing the Bay of Naples, Sorrento is known for its sweeping coastline views, beautiful historic piazza, alleys of cafes and shops, rows of lemon trees and a festive resort atmosphere. The Island of Capri is glamorous and popular with celebrities. It's rugged cliffs and cove-studded coastline attract yachts and tourists visiting the well-known Blue Grotto, a sea cave with electric blue water.

When you need a break from eating, history and adventure, this southern Italy coastal region is a prime shopping destination for everything from cameos and ceramics to inlaid wood creations and limoncello.

If you’re a foodie, the Campania region is a paradise just waiting to be tasted — from Neapolitan pizza and scialatielli ai frutti di mare (spaghetti with seafood) to sweet pastries and gelato. For quintessentially authentic Italian food, there’s nowhere like passionate, sun-drenched Naples. After your meal, don’t miss sampling limoncello (a lemony liqueur).

Delta Vacations offer flight + hotel packages that include round-trip airfare aboard a Delta Partner Airline to Naples Capodichino Airport (NAP) or Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino International Airport (FCO).
